Julia ‘Judy’ Fern McNally peacefully transitioned from this world to the next at the age of 102 on November 02, 2023. Judy was born in Weiser, ID on February 20, 1921. Growing up on her family farm, Judy’s parents would take her and her brothers and sister into town in their wagon where they would sometimes get treated to a 5 cent ice cream and see a movie for 10 cents.
She moved to Boise in her early 20’s where she met her husband of 44 years, Milton “Mac” McNally, when he was on leave from the Army visiting her brother during WWII. They moved to Portola, CA together where they raised their two children, Karen and Kevin. Judy would hand sew elaborate square-dancing outfits for her and her husband.
Along with being a voracious reader of books and solver of crossword puzzles, Judy was an avid bowler and won many bowling championships in her day. There was never a room Judy would walk into as a stranger that she wouldn’t walk out of without having made new friends. She had a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor, and a way of lighting up faces whenever she entered a room.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Karen; her son-in-law, Larry; her granddaughters, Rochelle and Theresa; her grandson-in-law, Jason; and her great grandchildren, Khloe and Tinsley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac, her son, Kevin, her sister, Opal, and her brothers Clifford and Kenneth. Services will be held November 18th at 1:00pm at Whispering Pines Cemetery in Portola, CA.
