Lassen County Chamber of Commerce Update

The 2011 Labor Law Posters have arrived. These posters feature both federal and state labor laws on one poster and contain all the mandatory notices that must be posted at each work place.
There is a steep $17,000.00 fine for businesses who fail to post the current labor laws. Changes have been made in recent months which make the purchase of an updated poster necessary.
The posters will are for sale to Chamber members at $25 per poster or $35 per poster to non-members. Supplies are limited so stop by the Chamber office to purchase your poster.
The Chamber is pleased to welcome Kathie Garnier, of Big Valley Mortgage, as the newest member of the board of directors. She will begin her term at the January 13, 2011 board meeting.
Do you know of a person or business that should be honored? The Chamber board is seeking nominations for “Volunteer of the Year”, “Chamber Member of the Year”, and “Business of the Year”; deadline to submit written nominations is January 10, 2011.
Selection will be made at the January board meeting and recipients for each award will be honored at the Annual Chamber Dinner on for Friday, January 28, 2011.
Small businesses that have hired new employees may qualify for a state tax credit of up to $3000. There was $400 million made available and as of Dec 4, 2010 only 39.7 million has been claimed. This credit is available to businesses with 20 or less employees.
There are some limitations to this credit so interested business should contact their accountant for details.
