“Lassen’s Got Game” is the theme of this year’s Winterfest activities at Lassen High School with fun stuff like a week-long game of Clue, improv games hosted by the Drama Club, a pep rally, lunch time games, spirit days and skits from January 28th through February 1st.
“Skits will be presented by the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes focus on the game of Life,” explains ASB and CSF Advisor Carrie Satica. “Each class’s skit will represent a day in the life of a student at LHS.”
Students will reenact the day in the life of a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior; finishing with all classes coming together to represent We Are Lassen.
Spirit days revolve around the theme of board games, and the class that has the most participation has the opportunity to earn an extended lunch for their grade level.
“Another way we are allowing classes to earn spirit points is decorating their section of the gym for their interpretation of a place on the Candyland board, the freshman have Chocolate Swamp, sophomores have Ice Cream Sea, juniors have Lollipop Forest, and seniors Candy Castle.”
There will be a homeroom decoration competition, and each teacher can pick how they will theme their classroom. The most creative classroom will win a breakfast burrito party in the following homeroom.
Many of the school’s athletic teams have home games or meets this week including boys and girls basketball, wrestling, and boys and girls soccer.
On Tuesday LHS soccer has a home game vs U Prep, girls at 3:15 and boys at 5:15.
Boys’ Basketball will be playing West Valley, Freshmen at 4:30, J.V. at 6, and Varsity at 7:30.
On the 30th Lassen will be hosting a home wrestling duel against Central Valley at 6:00p.m.
On Thursday the freshman basketball squad will be playing; girls at 4:30 and boys at 6:00p.m.
Friday will feature a Winterfest pep rally and the J.V. girls will play at 3:00, J.V. boys at 4:30, and Varsity teams will start at 6:00 and 7:30. Winterfest Royalty will be crowned Friday night at 6:00 before the boys’ varsity game.
“The community is encouraged to come out and support the boys and girls in the sports they are all involved in this exciting Winterfest week.”
