Porcupine Hunt Slated Tonight
December 13, 1956
Forestry students at Lassen Junior College are sponsoring a porcupine hunt and dance at the college tonight.
There will be three cash prizes for the person who kills and brings back the most porcupines.
The hunt will end about ten o’clock. Awards will be made at 11 for all those bringing back their dead porcupines.
Porcupines girdle some of the healthiest saplings, say the foresters, and the shoot is viewed as a conservation inasmuch as the trees girdled by the porcupines in quest of food usually die.
