Lassenite Plays For Junior Title
June 24, 1950

Lynn Barry, daughter of Attorney and Mrs. Hardin Barry of Susanville, will play in a tennis tournament in Mill Valley July 15 for the California State Junior championship, for the players under 18 years of age. The winner will be eligible to enter national contests, and may eventually play in Europe.

As a participant from the Dominican Convent in San Rafael, where she attended high school. Lynn played in tournaments among private schools in the bay area. As one of two top players in the bay area finals she was eligible to play in the Northern California Girlsā€™ Interscholastic Tennis Association tournaments this spring. She reached the finals of this tournament also.

Among her other tennis honors was first place in the San Francisco City tournament in Golden Gate park.

Born in Susanville, Lynn attended grammar school through the eighth grade here; she then went to San Rafael as a high school freshman, and it was there that she learned to play tennis. She was graduated from the Dominican Convent this spring, and plans to enter the University of California Berkley in September.

Handicapped by a late start, Lynn is expected to perfect her tennis technique in the next few years. In tournaments played previously, her natural ability has been pitted against the many years of experience of girls who have played since early childhood.
