Fire Equipment Housing Planned
September 13, 1945
The 1945 record to date of the state division of forestry is 71 fires put out in Lassen County. Up to the start of the deer season, none of these 71 fires had burned more than 16 acres; the average was 1 ¾. Most of them were within five miles of Susanville.
For better care of the fire fighting equipment this winter, the forest division is planning a new warehouse on Modoc street. It will be 28 by 40 and work will start about the middle of October. It is the third warehouse fire equipment and supplies at the state level.
This winter the permanent crews of the division plans to spend three or four weeks in the Willow Creek area on insect control work. About 700 trees have been marked and will be removed.
