And her older brothers: Jack, Clinton, and her twin brother Robert. Bob was 30 minutes older. Lois went home, to heaven, on September 25, 2023, at the age of 96.

Lois spent her early years in the Portola area. Her family later moved to Janesville, where her father was a minister and oversaw the log cabin church being built. After her father passed, her family moved to Woodland, California, where she graduated from high school.

In 1949 she returned to Susanville, where she met and married Clarence ā€œFredā€ Towell. In 1951, they welcomed their only child, Sherrie Towell (Thornton). Lois was a proficient secretary and was employed at Lassen High School, the county welfare department, Foremost Dairy, and Chevron Oil Company. In the early 1960s Fred and Lois opened The Donut Shop, across from the high school, and they owned and managed it until they retired in the late 1970s.

In the early 1990s, Fred and Lois moved to Idaho and were actively involved in their church. In 1998 Fred passed away and Lois returned to Susanville to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Lois was active in Susanville Assembly of God and later Community Church. She loved music and was a great pianist. You could always find her volunteering to play the piano or organ at events.
