The National Weather Service has issued an urgent Fire Weather Watch for Western Lassen County
The Fire Weather Watch will remain in effect from Saturday afternoon through late Saturday night for northeast California and northwest Nevada due to dry thunderstorms and strong outflow winds…
Thunderstorms… isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible Saturday and Saturday night. Thunderstorms may produce dry lightning strikes outside the storm cores. Outflow winds… erratic gusts of 40 to 60 mph are possible near thunderstorms.
Impacts… lightning may create new fire starts and combine with strong outflow winds to produce rapid fire growth.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Check weather.Gov/Reno for updates and possible red flag warnings.
