The process of abating Susanville’s long-time community swimming pool on South Street began this week, as the Honey Lake Valley Recreation Authority moves forward on plans to build a new public pool.

Roosevelt Pool opened in 1938 and served as the town’s pool for the next 70 years, finally closing down when it became no longer feasible to maintain the antiquated plumbing and deteriorating structure.
