The 21st annual Lassen Land and Trails Trust’s Paiute Meadows Trail event at Susanville Ranch Park is slated for this Saturday, May 17th and there is something for everyone, from the one-mile kids trail-run and senior’s walk to a two-mile run and walk and a 4.5-mile run/walk for the more advanced trail striders.

The Paiute Meadows Trail events provide an opportunity to enjoy and discover our world-class trails in Lassen County. The events encourage physical activity and well-being for all ages and the proceeds from the events also help Lassen Land and Trails Trust continue to enhance, improve and promote the region’s trails.

Each of the courses offers varied terrain and pass along a creek, through a beautiful meadow and ponderosa pine forest. There are awards for overall and age-groups, as well as randomly drawn raffle prizes for participants.

Over the course of 20-years the event has attracted more and more people, and this year, according to Race Director Jim Reichle, it will expand even more with local organizations and businesses setting up informational booths, providing food for participants and music by Williams Sound.

Run or Walk in Costume!

“For those who would to participate in costume,” says Reichle, “we encourage all forms of animals that might be found along forested and meadow trails.”

Race day registration starts at 7:30a.m. The one-mile kid’s trail run and senior’s walk begins at 8:30 and the 4.5-mile and 2-mile trail run/walks begins at 9:30a.m. For registration information, go to www.theschedule.comwww.llttweb.org, or call (530) 257-3252.

Lassen Land and Trails Trust, a non-profit member supported organization, actively works to conserve significant natural areas and working landscapes and to promote and enhance a system of leading public trails in northeastern California—where the Sierra Nevada, Cascade, Modoc Plateau and the Great Basin converge, a unique region rich in agricultural heritage, wildlife and scenic vistas.

The Trust’s work, including the Paiute Meadows Trail events, is accomplished through the support of generous and committed donors and volunteers. For more information about the Trust’s work or about more trails to enjoy, please visit www.llttweb.org.
