Fire Department Investigating Fire That Damaged Main Street Hotel

The cause of a fire that damaged a portion of the Travel Inn on Main Street in Susanville Saturday morning is still under investigation according to details released by the Susanville Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the hotel shortly after 8:00a.m. and found a fully-involved room on the third floor.

“Quick and aggressive firefighting efforts were performed,” explains Fire Captain Robert H. Brown. “The fire was contained and extinguished followed by mop-up operations.”

The surrounding rooms suffered only minor smoke damage and all occupants were out of the room when firefighters arrived.

According to Captain Brown the hotel room suffered heavy smoke and fire damage to the inside and to the overhang outside the door.

The Fire Department was assisted by the Susanville Police Department, Lassen County Sheriff’s Office,  Cal-Fire, LMUD and the City Public Works Department.

Total equipment committed to the incident included 3 Chief Officers, 2 Engines, 1 Truck, 2 police officers and 2 Sheriff’s deputies totaling 17 personnel.
