A Burney woman suffered fatal injuries after being ejected from a vehicle that overturned north of Deep Cut Road on Highway 395 Tuesday morning. Two other occupants of the 2006 Buick walked away with minor injuries.
Shortly after 4:00a.m., a man identified by the California Highway Patrol as 55-year old Burney resident Robert Sisk was driving his Buick northbound at an undetermined speed when, for unknown reasons, he allowed the car to drift to the left into the southbound lane and onto the west dirt shoulder.
Sisk attempted to correct by turning to the right but he was unable to maintain control and the Buick overturned.
A passenger, identified as 54-year old Burney resident Cheryl Dodgin, who was lying, unrestrained, in the back seat of the car and was ejected, and suffered fatal injuries as a result.
Sisk and his other passenger, 54-year old Heidi Cruz, suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and both parties were transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center for complaint of pain.
The cause of this collision is still under investigation. The CHP is asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision to call the Susanville CHP office at (530) 252-1900.
