The Susanville Fire Department responded to the area of Main and Foss Streets shortly before 4:00a.m., on August 15th, after receiving reports that a vegetation fire was burning alongside Paiute Creek, and quickly extinguished the small grass fire.
Engine 621 arrived on scene and firefighters found a 30’ x 15’ fire burning at a slow rate of spread in approximately 3’ tall grass.
Crews made an aggressive fire attack and contained the fire without further spread.
According to Fire Captain Kalvn McFarland there were 3-fire engines, 10-firefighters and 1 chief officer who responded to this incident. There were no fire service or civilian injuries.
McFarland also said that the fire appeared to be human caused.
The Susanville Fire Department was assisted by Cal-FIRE and the Susanville Police Department.
