Susanville Man Finds Out it’s a Small World
December 20th, 1955
Steve Arainty, who has returned to Susanville after a visit of six months with his parents in France, is convinced it’s a small world.
On his first return to France since arriving here eight years ago, Arainty related he met in Nice a retired schoolteacher, Fitz Henry, who had taught in the Susanville schools.
Henry, 80, retired in 1947 and is residing on the Riviera.
Arainty was enthusiastic about traveling through France by car. He stated he purchased a French vehicle for $1,050, used it six months, then sold it on leaving for $990.00
The Susanville man, who visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Arainty of Tarbes, Hautes Pyrenees, flew his own plane to New Jersey where he put it in storage.
He flew to France by commercial airline. His European visit included a month spent in Spain. He returned to the United States by ship, picked up his airplane and flew home.
