The City of Susanville’s Fire Department has been working closely with Cal-FIRE’s Lassen Modoc Unit this past week to conduct a fuels reduction project at the Susan River Parkway in the middle of town.
Last week, according to Susanville Fire Chief James Moore, crews finished Phase 1, which primarily included vegetation clean-up, tree pruning, and removing dead and dying flammable materials and pile burning.
This week crews will complete the second phase of the project which consists of a controlled broadcast burn by fire crews on the eastern portion of the city’s property.
The Parkway will continue to be closed to the public until Wednesday, May 3rd.
Moore also asked drivers to please use caution while travelling through area.
