With Spring here and Winter finally gone, lets think about how to put a “Spring” into your front porch!
Try some or all of these ideas to create a beautiful entrance. With a little elbow grease and some love you will enjoy coming home again.
1. Paint the ceiling…..Use darker colors for high ceilings (light browns, darker grays). This will bring a welcome feeling to your visitors. If you have a low ceiling use light and airy colors (pale blue, grays, off whites).
2. Add a new coat of paint to the porch. Add some sand to your paint for the walking areas to prevent slipping when wet.
3. Change the color of your door to a high intensity bold color. Try Browns, greens and reds. Make sure you compliment the exterior paint color. We don’t want to clash!
4. New colorful door mats are a must.
5. Add a rocker, some flowers and greenery with pots, window sill planters or stand alone topiary at each side of your entrance.
6. Now update your lighting. Add a chandelier in the center or update your wall sconces. Think about larger lights for drama and excitement upon entering your home. First impressions are the very most important and set the look for the rest of your home.
7. Last but not least…..New house numbers. Repaint the curb numbers, use dark metal numbers on your house or if you have a mail box clean and repaint.
8. Oh, I almost forgot….Don’t forget to clean the dead and dying leaves and debris around your yard.
