On August 11, Lassen Community College is excited to welcome the acclaimed band, Boot Juice. The college invites the community to this musical performance, which starts at 5:00p.m., immediately following the new student workshops as part of the Student Onboarding Day.
Boot Juice is a seven-piece band that has been stirring up the West Coast music scene since 2016 with electrifying original sets that blend rock, blues, bluegrass, folk, and country genres.
In addition to the performance by Boot Juice, the event will feature a free barbecue to welcome new and returning students to the LCC campus. All students registered for Fall classes are eligible for a free BBQ dinner. Lassen College will also host food vendors, Riots, Areli’s Taco Taquiza, and Kona-Ice. To engage the community further, various campus departments, local agencies and organizations will set up booths to familiarize students and attendees with available resources. This event is free and open to the community.
The Best of Doyle Days, Saturday August 12th from 10:00-8:00p.m., at Dixon Park in Downtown Doyle. Featuring: 40′ Extreme Rush Obstacle Course – Bounce House for up to 5 years old – and Tag Arena with Light System. World famous lizard races at High Noon, Street Dance featuring Live band “sideFX” from 6:00-10:00p.m. Face painter, balloon twister and lizard petting zoo, Magician and kid games, Gunslingers, Crafts, and food vendors. Lassen High School Cheerleaders will have their last Summer Car Wash Fundraiser on Saturday, August 12th from 9:00 to 2:00p.m., at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. Come out and support your LHS Cheerleaders and get your cars washed. All proceeds will go towards helping your LHS Cheer with new equipment, cheer attire, competition/fees, and much more.
Join Lassen Land & Trails Trust for the 6th Annual Farm to Table Dinner at the Rice Canyon Ranch in Susanville, Saturday, August 12th at 5:00p.m. This year’s event features the trifecta of a stunning farm venue, a Michelin-recognized chef and a four-course meal featuring ingredients and beverages from purveyors in the agricultural landscape that the Land Trust is dedicated to conserving. Lassen High School Freshmen Orientation will be on Monday, August 14th in the LHS Student Center. Schedule pickup starts at 5:00p.m. Presentation starts at 5:30p.m., BBQ dinner, tour the school, club information, meet school staff, yearbook purchase, AERIES, data confirmation and more.

In our community, Lassen College presents a unique opportunity to engage in various enriching discussions with their free lunchtime lecture series. The series takes place every Tuesday from 11:30 to 12:30p.m., at the Lassen Library District conference room on Main Street. These weekly, hour-long sessions delve into diverse topics ranging from practical skills such as writing effective professional emails and starting a small business, to crowd-pleaser topics including beekeeping and the mysterious world of spiders.
They even cover critical issues like managing financial worries and cyber-awareness skills for the whole family. For a special treat, they also offer beginner and intermediate classes in AI with ChatGPT. All are invited to join these free, educational events. Join the fun with Bottle & Brush Art Bar for their New Summer Schedule for Trivia Night. They’re moving to once-a-month schedule for Trivia Night for the next few months, starting in May.
