Business Men Here Employ Detective
December 13, 1922

The Susanville business men have found it necessary on account of the shoplifting that has been going on to employ a detective agency to protect their interests.

B. F. Lyle of the Golden Rule Department Store states that his losses from this source run as high as $15 per day. This week signs are to be seen in every store cautioning the shoplifter that the store is under the protection of a detective agency.

It is expected that this action will have a very salutary effect. If not, arrests will be made.

In that case the disgrace will probably be worse than the punishment.
