Elks Lodge Enjoys Christmas Tree Party
December 22, 1926
At the regular meeting of the local Elks Lodge last night, after routine business had been disposed of old Santa Claus made his appearance amid the sounds of sleigh bells and much applause. He carried a big pack full of toys and gifts for the members who were there, in commemoration of the spirit of Christmas.
He called out the names of the receivers of the gifts, who went forward and unwrapped the presents in front of the assemblage. They were mostly of a nature that brought a big laugh.
Dr. Lind received an elaborately wrapped package containing six corks. Abe Plato received a comb and brush both of which received a big laugh, since Ben’s locks have long been a mere fringe around the edge of his hat rack.
Jon Greig received three telephones, etc. The party was greatly enjoyed by all who attended, and will no doubt be an annual affair.
Coffee and sandwiches were served after Santa Claus left, and everyone went home about midnight.
