The California Department of Fish and Wildlife will be offering traditional hunter education courses at the Janesville Fire Hall on January 27th and February 3rd. Both sessions run from 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. and all students must attend both days of instruction.

Students are required to obtain a California GO ID and free Pre-registration Hunter Education Document prior to registering for California Hunter Education courses. Click here for instructions. All students must also download, print and sign a Student Consent Form. Students 17 years of age and younger must have the form signed by a parent or guardian. The signed form must be brought to class.

In order to be certified students must attend the entire class including all sessions. They will need to show safe handling of firearms and pass the Hunter Education test with a score of 80% or better. There is no minimum age to attend California Hunter Education. Parents or guardians are encouraged to attend with young students, especially those younger than age 16, to help define new words or provide additional tutoring during and after class.

For complete information follow this link to the California DFW registration page. You can also contact hunter safety instructor David Henderson at 530-249-2624.
