A fundraiser being held February 14th in Sparks, Nevada, will benefit Christi Myers, the Director of Nursing at Lassen Community College, an incredibly active member of our community and an all-around wonderful person, who was diagnosed with Lobular Invasive Carcinoma three months ago.
“In October, I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” Myers explained on social media.
“I want to assure you all that I am taking every step necessary to fight it with strength, courage, and a positive mindset. My journey to better health is not over but I am optimistic about the care I am receiving. I’m over halfway through chemo, which is a big win, and better days are in sight.”
Christi’s husband Leon, who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, is fighting his own battle, beginning radiation therapy on January 15th.
Six years ago, Christi and Leon’s son Xander grappled with a rare form of pediatric follicular lymphoma at the age of five.
Wednesday’s fundraiser is hosted by the Sparks chapter of ‘Helping One Woman’ and will be held at Cantina Los Tres Hombres, 1180 Scheels Dr. Suite B 111 beginning at 5:30p.m.
Reservations will be accepted until Sunday, February 11th.
