It’s the time of year for celebrations and showcases and at Lassen High, many of our student performing groups are sharing their talents with the public this week.

Our Drama Club starts it off tonight at 5:30 with their premiere of Clue – High School Edition in the Lassen High Drama Room. It will also play on Wednesday and Thursday evening. Senior Lily Ammon, starring as Miss Scarlett, says that if you “loved the classic murder mystery board game, then this is your change to see it live on stage!”

It’s an hour and a half of mystery, murder, and most importantly: comedy. Peter Nielsen, Aryanna Saltsgaver, and Austin Whitby are the other seniors of Drama Club featured in this show.

On Friday night May 9th, the Drill Team is holding their annual Grizzliette show. It starts at 7:00 in the Bob Levada Gymnasium. The doors open at 6:30 and tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students K-12 and senior citizens.

The show will feature all of your favorite dances from this season, plus more student-choreographed numbers. This year’s Class Competition has a special surprise at the end. Hint: It’s rectangular-shaped and made of wood. Comp groups from J&J Performing Arts and the Richmond Drill Team will also be performing.

The drill team is also celebrating the accomplishments of their seniors: Julienne Bennett, Madison Boyer, Allie Chandler, Taryn Farris, Cori Nystrom, and Kylee Tancreto.

The Choir is also holding their Spring Concert on May 9th at 7:00 at the Methodist Church. According to director Ben Wade, they are “singing inspiring songs, like “We Won’t Stop Dreaming” and “Soon We Will Be Done (with Racism and Sexism).” Beautiful ballads like “Seal Lullaby” and “Shanandoah” are also on the program.

Seniors Metui Bolekinaivalu and Gianna Hooker will both have solos. They have helped grow the program from 6 students post-Covid to over 20 students today. Another senior, Windy Litrell, helps round out the group.

Take some time this week to celebrate our students and the arts at Lassen High. It’s some of the best entertainment in Susanville.

Remember when news was ‘newsy’? When you read about weddings, family events and engagement announcements in the newspaper? If you have something that might be newsworthy, please submit it to [email protected] and I’ll do my best to include it here in “The Good Stuff.”
