Armed Robbery at Susanville Shoe Store: Three Arrested

Police Chief Tom Downing is releasing the details surrounding a daylight armed robbery of the Payless Shoe Source on Main Street in Susanville early this afternoon.

According to Chief Downing, at around 1:30p.m., officers from the Susanville Police Department received a report that an armed robbery that had just occurred at Payless Shoe Source. It was further reported that a witness was following one of the suspects.

Officers responded immediately and learned that the suspect fled the area initially on foot, and was then picked up by a vehicle a short distance from the scene. A description of the vehicle was obtained and broadcast to allied agencies in the area.

“A Good Samaritan hearing the vehicle description broadcasted over his scanner, observed the vehicle on Skyline Extension,” explains Downing, “The Good Samaritan contacted law enforcement and followed the vehicle to Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel.”

The casino property was surrounded by officers and a search of the premises and surrounding area followed resulting in the arrest of three individuals without incident.

31-year old Susanville resident Albert Ray Brazzanovich, 33-year old Susanville resident Justin Daniel Cain and 26-year old Oroville resident Ronnie Luclucalome Edwards were booked into the Lassen County Jail on the charges of robbery and conspiracy. They will be held on $40,000.00 bail each.

The case remains under investigation and if anyone has any information about this incident they are encouraged to contact the Susanville Police Department during normal business hours at 1801 Main Street or by calling the department’s 24-hour dispatch center at (530) 257-2171.

“The rapid identification and apprehension of the suspects in this case was accomplished through the willingness of citizens in our community to assist law enforcement with vital information. Without their assistance, I am confident this case would have been more difficult to solve,” said Downing.

“I would like to thank our law enforcement partners who assisted with their rapid response. The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol and an officer from the Bureau of Land Management all assisted with this incident. Their assistance is always appreciated.”
