JH Heating Weather: Dust Storm Affecting Visibility Northeast of Susanville

The National Weather Service office in Reno is warning Lassen County residents, especially along the Highway 395 corridor north of Susanville, that a blowing dust storm is creating hazardous driving conditions.

Blowing dust from Gerlach to Lassen County… 

Gusty east winds over the Black Rock and Smoke Creek deserts has created a large area of blowing dust from Gerlach to eastern Lassen County. The dust may reduce visibility below 1 mile at times along Highway 447 near Gerlach.

Visibility is also lower than 3 miles along Highway 395 north of Susanville.

The blowing dust will continue through 8:00p.m. this evening with visibility improving tonight as winds diminish.

Travelers should be prepared for sudden changes in visibility along Highway 395 north of Susanville and along Highway 447 near Gerlach.

Record high temperature set at South Lake Tahoe CA…

A record high temperature of 57 degrees was set at South Lake Tahoe CA yesterday. This breaks the old record of 55 set in 1994.
