The National Weather Service office in Reno is warning Lassen County residents, especially along the Highway 395 corridor north of Susanville, that a blowing dust storm is creating hazardous driving conditions.

Gusty east winds over the Black Rock and Smoke Creek deserts has created a large area of blowing dust from Gerlach to eastern Lassen County. The dust may reduce visibility below 1 mile at times along Highway 447 near Gerlach.
Visibility is also lower than 3 miles along Highway 395 north of Susanville.
The blowing dust will continue through 8:00p.m. this evening with visibility improving tonight as winds diminish.
Travelers should be prepared for sudden changes in visibility along Highway 395 north of Susanville and along Highway 447 near Gerlach.
