JH Heating Weather: High Winds Pummel Northeastern California

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning until 10:00p.m. this evening…

Winds will remain strong through this evening. The strongest winds are expected around sunset.

Winds are south to southwest from 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph.

Higher gusts, up to 75 mph, are blowing in wind prone areas along Highway 395 between Susanville and Hallelujah Junction… as well as in the Sierra Valley. Multiple power lines are down throughout the valley.

Strong cross winds are creating hazardous travel conditions for motorists… especially for high profile vehicles along Highway 395 south of Susanville… as well as along Highway 70 east of Portola. Travel restrictions for high profile vehicles are possible.

Damage to trees… power lines and property is being reported across the valley. Use extra caution and remain alert for sudden gusts or cross winds.

Motorists also need to watch out for debris in the roadway.
