In just over two months Lassen County voters will head to the polls to choose County Supervisors for District 3 and District 5, along with the offices of Assessor, Auditor, Clerk/Recorder, Sheriff/Coroner, Superintendent of Schools and Treasurer/Tax Collector.
Within the city limits voters will be electing two Susanville City Council members.
Here is a rundown of the races and the candidates as of the filing deadline Wednesday night:
Assessor
Incumbent Kenneth Bunch has declined to run for the position leaving Daniel Schlueter as the only candidate for County Assessor.
Auditor
Diana Wemple and Jim Chapman are running for the office of Auditor. Incumbent Karen Fouch will not be a candidate in the June election.
Clerk – Recorder
Voters will choose from current Clerk Recorder Julie Bustamante and challenger David Cole.
District Attorney
Incumbent Robert Burns has chosen not to run in the June election; the position of District Attorney will be filled by either Stacey Montgomery or David B. Evans.
Sheriff-Coroner
Current Sheriff Dean Growdon will be running unchallenged in the June race.
Superintendent of Schools
Incumbent Rich DuVarney will be running against Patricia Gunderson for the top position in the Lassen County Office of Education.
Treasurer – Tax Collector
Long-time Treasurer and Tax Collector Richard Egan has taken a position with Lassen County, leaving this position open for four candidates; Nancy Cardenas, Brian Wilson, Richard Stovall and John Mallery.
Lassen County Supervisors
In Lassen County’s third district there are five candidates looking to replace incumbent Larry Wosick who has chosen not to run; Jesse Claypool, Jeff Hemphill, Max Tinnin, Joseph Turner and Chuck Downs.
In Lassen County’s fifth district, incumbent Tom Hammond is running unopposed.
Susanville City Council
There will be seven candidates on the ballot for two Susanville City Council seats. Council member Cheryl McDonald chose not to run. We’ll have the names of the seven candidates when they are announced by the city.
