Susanville Police Chief Tom Downing announced this morning that an arrest has been made in the 2011 homicide of Susanville resident Angel Siler. Siler’s death has remained a high-profile story, fueled by local social media and prompted by unanswered questions surrounding the case.
According to Chief Downing detectives from the department, with the assistance of an officer from the Alturas Police Department, arrested 36-year old William Joaquin Romero at his residence on Josephine Street in Alturas Wednesday evening.
Romero, a former Susanville resident, was arrested on a warrant issued out of Lassen Superior Court on a felony charge of Homicide for the death of Angel Siler in September of 2011.
“Cases of this nature are very complex and take a long time to investigate properly,” explains Chief Downing. “Through the hard work and dedication of the Susanville Police Detectives, we finally arrived at a point where an arrest was warranted in this case.”
Romero was booked into the Modoc County jail on the warrant and held on $1,000,000 bail pending transfer to Lassen County for court proceedings.
The case has been presented to the Lassen County District Attorney for prosecution.
