Bluegrass Festival Spotlight: Get Down Boys
The Get Down Boys are a Los Angeles based string band performing high energy traditional and original Bluegrass music, along with modern favorites infused with the sounds of Americana. Known for their carefully crafted songs, floor-shaking rhythms, and unmistakable harmonies, The GDBs bring an irresistible and infectious passion to their spin on American roots music.
They have mastered an organic, contemporary sound and cohesive high energy act, but most important to this group is their support for the new movements in bluegrass music. “The GDB’s are blazing a new path with their spit-fire vocals, upbeat high-tempo picking, and a classic mix of instrumentation that sounds twangy and fresh” (The Groove Thief). The GDBs love to have a good time with their fans, music lovers, and each other, and are on a mission to grow the American bluegrass scene. “With a healthy repertoire of traditional and original material” (OFOAM) their infectious energy and passion for their craft gets an audience of any musical taste having “grand ole time” (The Examiner) and excited about the roots of American music.
In addition to their regular So Cal residencies, The Boys have opened for Nickel Creek and Punch Brothers at Ed Helmsā 2nd Annual Bluegrass Situation, played along side John C. Reilly at the 3rd Annual Bluegrass Situation, made an appearance on FOX11ās Good Day LA, as well as a performance at the Grammyās 10th Annual Producerās & Engineerās Wing Party, honoring T Bone Burnett.
