Banner Health Clinic today announced the hiring of Marc Nielsen, D.O., a specialist in family medicine, who began seeing patients locally November 1st at the clinic’s Paul Bunyan Road offices.
Nielsen, according to the announcement, provides a full spectrum of family medicine care from infants to elderly patients. He specializes in preventive medicine and the treatment of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure and arthritis. He also emphasizes the coordination of care with specialists and other health providers to give optimal care for each patient.
“Spending time answering questions and educating is one of the best ways to involve patients in taking charge of their health,” Dr. Nielsen said. “Often the most effective way for a patient to take control is through lifestyle changes, which can sometimes reduce or eliminate reliance on medications to control chronic illnesses.”
Dr. Nielsen said he addresses these types of topics with each patient individually.
He attended Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Stanislaus Family Medicine Residency Program, now known as Valley Family Medicine and affiliated with the University of California, Davis, in Modesto, Calif. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
In his spare time he enjoys road and mountain biking, deep sea fishing and exploring the beauty of the local area with his family. Dr. Nielsen comes to Susanville from Chester.
