Effective today, November 16th, 2015 at 8:00 a.m., the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Lassen-Modoc-Plumas Unit has lifted restrictions on dooryard debris burning. This means you may burn dooryard debris without a permit. Permits will not be required until May 1st, 2016. However, you must still contact your local Air Pollution Control District to ensure itās a permissive burn day.
“This summer brought devastating wildfires to northern California,” saidĀ Cal-Fire spokesperson Leah Sandberg in Friday’s announcement.Ā “Though we recognize the need and convenience of being able to burn yard debris, we urge you to use extreme caution. Never leave your fire unattended. If a debris burn escapes your control you could be held liable.”
Unit Chief Dave JunetteĀ extended his appreciation to those residents of Lassen, Modoc and Plumas counties who worked so diligently this summer to be fire safe and he encourages families to continue in this manner throughout the winter months.
