Banner Health announced Monday that it has acquired Cascade Medical Center in Susanville and is bringing the center’s two medical providers and four clinic staff members into the Banner Health system. The name of the practice has been changed to Banner Health Clinic.
The clinic will host an open house from 4:00 to 7:00p.m., April 27th for patients to visit with providers and learn about Banner Health.
“We have long provided care to this community,” said Gregory Valceschini, MD, one of two physicians at the clinic. He shares the office with pediatrician Christina Carlton, MD. “By joining Banner, we can continue to provide excellent patient care to our residents while also providing seamless access to care in the Banner Health system which offers a wealth of expertise and resources.”
“Drs. Valceschini and Carlton are highly respected in Lassen County and are a wonderful addition to the Banner Health family in Susanville,” said Cathy Harshbarger, Banner Lassen Medical Center chief executive officer. “I look forward to partnering with them to further improve opportunities for health and wellness in Lassen County.”
The clinic is integrated with the Banner Health Clinic specializing in surgical services as well as Banner Lassen Medical Center. This will improve the coordination of care for patients whether they are patients in the clinic or hospital. The Banner Health Clinics are licensed as 1204A community clinics by the California Department of Health. This means the clinics provide care for all patients including offering a sliding fee scale for patients based on their ability to pay.
Dr. Valceschini opened his family practice clinic in Susanville in 2000. Prior to that, he had a number of years of experience providing care in urgent care clinics, emergency departments, family practice clinics and in sports and occupational medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles and completed his residency at Mercy Medical Center in Redding. He also completed a sports medicine fellowship at The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Salt Lake City. Dr. Valceschini is Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Carlton began practicing in Susanville in 2002 working with the Northeastern Rural Health Clinics, the Lassen Indian Health Center and in private practice with Dr. Valceschini. She also worked in primary care clinics and in emergency medicine in Fontana and San Diego. She earned her medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed her residency at University of California San Diego. Dr. Carlton is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
The physicians will be joined by family medicine specialist Marc Nielsen, DO, who started working for Banner Health Clinic in November. The trio will see patients at the clinic’s existing location, 1680 Paul Bunyan Road in Susanville. The phone number remains the same: (530) 257-5730.
