‘New Beginnings’ is the theme of this Saturday’s 2016 Women’s Conference, which features an amazing array of speakers and presentations on the Lassen Community College campus.
This year’s keynote speaker is author Sue Kirby who will kick-off the day with a one-of-a-kind presentation that encourages attendees to “Celebrate the Ordinary,” and enjoy life by letting go of self-made stress. A premier storyteller, Sue inspires men and women alike to discover the best in themselves and others with her practical, life-enriching tips.
Using her special blend of wit, wisdom and humor, participants will learn how to lighten up stress-filled situations at work and home through developing humor and gratitude in their daily lives.
Along with Kirby’s inspirational presentation the day-long event, co-sponsored by the EOP&S/CARE program, will include a host of special workshops:
Angie Crowley, a Financial Advisor for Edward Jones Investment will advise attendees on how to prepare for their future.
Mary Gilbert, who is a licensed clinical social worker, will help you develop habits that make you happy.
Naomi Turner, from Room by Room Interiors, will teach workshop participants how to create spectacular rooms, table settings and more.
Colleen Baker will be presenting two sessions – ‘Dealing with Stress through Defense Mechanisms’ and ‘Self Esteem and How can you Change it?’
Want to know how to plant a bee happy garden? Jeannie Huber will show you how!
Nancy Lounsbury will conduct a ‘ReCycle – ReUse – ReNew’ workshop and Tony Esparza will teach conference attendees what grows in our county and when to plant.
Two speakers will be featured during lunch, Susan Couso as Philenda Spencer and Sandy Jonas as Susan Roop, presenting the stories of two well-known local women who both contributed greatly to the history of our community.
The Women’s Conference will be held this Saturday, May 14th, from 8:00a.m. until 3:00p.m. at the college. Cost for the conference is $15 and includes lunch and all of the day’s activities. Tickets are available at Margie’s Book Nook and Lassen College the day of the conference.
