The Honey Lake Valley Recreation Authority will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new community swimming pool this Tuesday, June 21st. The community is invited to the South Street location at 3:00p.m.
“The old Roosevelt Pool closed its doors in 2004,” said HLVRA Executive Officer Jared Hancock in his invitation to the community. “As a result of unwavering commitment of individuals, the community and local leaders, ground will be broken for a new pool. With approved plans and building permits in hand, Modern Building Company will begin construction on the new facility.”
Hancock is asking community members to come celebrate the groundbreaking and to acknowledge the many partners who have joined with Lassen County and the City of Susanville to bring this pool to life.
Designed to be 25 yards by 25 meters, this L-shaped pool is six lanes in each direction, will conform to the USA Swimming standards and will allow for both lap and free swimming. With a shallow end for relaxation and recreation and a deep end capable of accommodating a one or three meter diving board, the new facility will offer activities for all ages and skill levels.
A 1,560 square foot bathhouse will provide additional amenities including a check-in area and men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers and restrooms.
Construction is scheduled to be complete and the pool ready for use in Spring 2017.
