Weather Bulletin: Advisory Issued for Snow Tuesday Night and Wednesday Morning

weatherupdate

The National Weather Service office in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7:00p.m. Tuesday to 10:00a.m. Wednesday.

Snow is expected to begin for areas west of Highway 395 by late afternoon on Tuesday, then spill over along and east of Highway 395 Tuesday evening. The heaviest snowfall here in the Honey Lake Valley will likely be between 10:00p.m. Tuesday and 4:00a.m. Wednesday.

Snow accumulations are forecast as 3 to 6 inches west of Highway 395 and 1 to 3 inches along and east of Highway 395.

Snow levels will begin near 5,000 feet Tuesday afternoon then fall to all valley floors Tuesday night.

Snow will make travel hazardous due to slick, snow packed roads, especially above 5,000 feet west of Highway 395. This includes California highways 36, 44 and 70.

Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since it takes longer to stop on slick roadways.
