The Honey Lake Valley Resource Conservation District has applied for planning grant funds through the California State Park Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division for the Modoc Line Rail Trail.
The Modoc Line planning grant is a partnership project with the Lassen Land and Trails Trust and the Bureau of Land Management. If the grant is approved, the partnership will complete the environmental analysis to maintain 46 miles of the 80-mile rail-trail and to construct five future trailhead parking areas.
The Trust acquired the abandoned rail corridor for development and management as a shared-use, motorized public trail in 2008, and the Modoc Line Rail Trail Management Plan was adopted after public comments in January 2012.
The RCD’s application can be reviewed beginning on Tuesday, March 7th, at the Division’s website, http://ohv.parks.ca.gov.
Public comments are requested by April 3rd. For more information, please contact the RCD at [email protected] or 775-313-1222.
