Don’t be a victim and learn how to protect yourself! Lassen Family Services and the Lassen County Sheriff’s Department are partnering up to provide a free awareness, empowerment and educational self-defense workshop to the community. Lassen Family Services supports National Denim Day. Wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. In this rape prevention education campaign we ask community members, elected officials, businesses and students to make a social statement with their fashion by wearing jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual assault. The Lassen Community College English Department will be presenting another Night of the Cinephile April 28th on the school’s campus. Focusing on films of cultural, historic and artistic significance the evening will feature a free showing of the 1947 classic Dark Passage. The movie will be shown in Middleton Hall beginning at 5:30p.m. April 28th. Popcorn, candy and soda will be provided by the college. The lecture series is also open to all curious LCC students, high school students, community members, and friendly looky-loos who are interested in learning.
