A Susanville resident has been arrested for two thefts from guests at a local hotel where she was employed as a housekeeper, according to details released today by the Susanville Police Department.
On Monday the police department received a report that medication had been taken from a guest of the Red Lion Inn Motel in Susanville, and on Tuesday another guest at the same motel reported that a handgun had been stolen.
The investigation revealed that both thefts occurred during the previous Friday and Saturday while the guests were away from their rooms. A trail of facts and evidence lead investigators to the housekeeper who had cleaned both rooms.
The investigating officers sought and obtained a search warrant and an arrest warrant for 30-year old Susanville resident Mishell Wong. The search warrant was executed on Wednesday and resulted in the successful recovery of the stolen handgun.
Wong arrived at the residence during the search and the case agent subsequently arrested her on two counts of residential burglary pursuant to the arrest warrant.
Wong was booked into the Lassen County Jail and held in lieu of $75,000.00 bail.
