A winter storm is forecast to affect our area beginning Wednesday afternoon, with wind, rain and snow at the higher elevations, lasting until late Thursday night.
According to the NWS’s Winter Storm Warning heavy snow is possible, especially above 6,000 feet south and west of Susanville. Plan on difficult travel conditions. Tree branches could fall as well.
Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are possible above 6,000 feet, with a few inches down to around 5,000 feet west of Highway 395.
The winter storm will mainly affect Lassen, eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties.
Significant reductions in visibility are possible from Wednesday afternoon through late Thursday night. Travel restrictions are possible for Highways 36 and 44 west of Susanville.
