For three decades now the Lassen County Cattlemen and Cattlewomen have hosted one of Susanville’s premiere events, the annual ‘Taste of Beef, Sip of Wine’ fundraiser with proceeds benefiting local youth activities, scholarships and agriculture in the classroom.
The evening includes mouthwatering beef appetizers, hand picked quality wines and a silent auction packed with some incredible items along with a gun draw and wine pull.
To keep the hors d’oeuvres fresh and exciting, the CattleWomen host a ‘Cow-A-Bunga’ Contest each year during their November meeting. This is a friendly competition between the CattleWomen members to create a new beef hors d’oeuvre to be served at the event.
This year’s winner is Tami Mallery and her winning dish was “The Perfect Bite”, which will be featured at the March 10th, event.
Back by popular demand are a few of the carving stations featuring different cuts of beef, new this year are shredded bbq beef sliders and prime rib lavosh.
Attendees will enjoy hand-selected premium wines, champagne and locally brewed beer.
Known as one of the must attend events of the year, the beef and wine tasting event is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30p.m., Saturday, March 10th, at the Susanville Elk Lodge.
“This year’s event marks the 30th Anniversary and we have a few surprises up our sleeves to make it special,”said event co-chairs Tami Mallery and Trisha Wood.
The Cattlewomen only sell a limited number of tickets and those who attend will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for a gun raffle, yeti raffle, wine pull, have the option to bid in the Silent Auction and to bid on one ‘special’ live auction item.
Tickets are available at the Lassen Chamber of Commerce.
Proceeds raised from this annual event support local youth activities, scholarships, beef promotion and ag in the classroom.
The Lassen County CattleWomen thanked the community and the event’s sponsors and donors for making this year’s Taste of Beef possible.
