A Standish resident was arrested September 5th after he provided false information regarding his identity to Deputies from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office as they served a search warrant at a residence on Eternal Springs Road.

“The search warrant was in regards to a large marijuana grow on the above property,” explained Lassen County Sheriff Dean Growdon Tuesday.

Deputies entered the residence to find a man, identified as 48-year old Standish resident Jeffrey Stuart Putney, who initially provided them with false information regarding his identity.

“During a search of the property,” said Growdon, “Deputies located a total of 802 marijuana plants and approximately 100 pounds of processed marijuana.”

According to Growdon the marijuana plants had a wet weight of 3,100 pounds.

Putney was arrested and booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges related to Cultivation of Marijuana and Possession of over an ounce of Marijuana.

Growdon explained that additional charges, including Maintaining a residence for the unlawful manufacture, storage, or distribution of a controlled substance and providing false information to a Peace Officer, will be filed with the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office.

Putney was released from custody on a misdemeanor citation pursuant to Proposition 47.

Growdon thanked Lassen County Code Enforcement for helping with identification and eradication of the plants, saying that his office greatly appreciates their assistance.
