Susanville Park Installs Lights for Baseballers
March 14th, 1950

Baseball history is being made for Susanville this week with the installation of a 180,000 watt lighting system at the Memorial park. This will make the local diamond a class ā€œAā€ ball park, and one of the best for night baseball in Northern California.

Two banks of 24 lights are being installed this week. In addition to the new lighting, two wings will be added to each side of the present grandstand, each to have a seating capacity of 400. Since the present grandstand seats 750, this means that a total of 1550 fans will be able to watch the games beginning this season.

Other improvements are slated.

The ambitious program was made possible by 16 local merchants who got behind the project and sponsored the financing of the lighting system.
