1,198 Apply For Stamps In Lassen
September 30, 1940

Susanville and Westwood areas alone have 1,198 duck and deer hunters, according to Postmasters Elmer Minchell of this city and Frank Lauer of the lumber center. Bieber, Nubieber and all of northern Lassen county are yet to be heard from, with estimates that there are more than 400 hunters in that area.

Winchell has sold 532 duck stamps to Susanville hunters and Lauer, 664 in Westwood.

The excellence of the hunting the first few days of the season is held responsible for the big run on hunting stamps.

According to the game wardens of the district there has not been a hunter who has failed to bag a few birds and most of them the limits so far.
