It was big fun Saturday as kids of all ages flocked to the Susanville Fire Hall on Main Street to get a taste of what its like to be a firefighter!

Personnel from the department were on hand to demonstrate fire safety, show off their cool fire stuff and to perhaps inspire another generation of firefighters.

Not only did kids learn about safety, but there were fire truck rides, games and activities and a barbecue.

The theme of this year’s Fire Prevention Month is, “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!” and the folks at the Susanville Fire Department helped educate everyone about the small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.

Did you know?
In a typical home fire, you may have as little as one to two minutes to escape safely from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Escape planning and practice can help you make the most of the time you have, giving everyone enough time to get out.

Plan ahead for your escape. Make your home escape plan and practice today. Follow this link to the National Fire Prevention Week website for more information about creating home escape plan.
