Lassen Patients’ Rights Office Presents Half-Day SafeTALK Training

The Lassen County Patients’ Rights Office will be offering a half-day training that teaches participants to recognize and engage persons who might be having thought of suicide and to connect them with community resources.

The program, called Safetalk, stresses safety while challenging taboos that inhibit open talk about suicide.

According to Patient Rights Advocate Nicole Lamica the free training is the first level of the agency’s community suicide safer plan.

“These trainings are for the community,” explains Lamica. “In order to make an impact in our community we need the community to learn the signs and ask the question ‘are you thinking about Suicide’?”

The safeTALK Training will be held in the Lassen College Dorm Lounge October 19th from 9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m.

Contact Lamica for further information at 251-8322.
