Lassen Family Service’s CASA Program hosted a Superhero 5K fundraiser at Susanville’s Riverside Park on October 26th. Participants dressed up in superhero attire for a fun run through the streets of town, beginning at the Senior Center on Sunkist Drive and winding along the river walking path to Riverside Drive before returning to the park.

CASA of Lassen Family Services’ mission is to provide specially selected and trained community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in Lassen County’s juvenile dependency system. The group works as a non-profit program under the umbrella agency of Lassen Family Services, in collaboration with key agencies, legal counsel and community resources to ensure that each child’s best interests are protected.

The focus of CASA’s advocacy is on the following areas:

· Placement
· Education
· Mental/medical health
· Permanency

Another goal of the CASA program is to educate the community regarding the great need for CASA volunteers. CASA is committed to advocating for each dependent child’s best interests and believe their mission will be accomplished when each dependent child has secured a safe permanent home.
