January 2, 1951

Announcement was made by Rue Dastrup and Buddy Olsen that a ski tow and run are soon to be built at Fredonyer summit. The run to be named RuBo Run, will include a 1300 foot “T” bar rope tow and temporary shelter accommodations.

In connection with development of the new ski area, plans are underway to revitalize the Susanville ski club under new auspices, Invitation competitive ski classics between local ski adepts, Reno and Mt. Lassen Ski Clubs, and other groups will then be possible.

Dr. R. H. Amesbury, past president of the Susanville Ski Club declares: “I have long felt the need for skiing facilities in the Susanville area, and I am happy to see this project get under way. My perusal of the RuBo ski run with Rue Dastrup, revealed an unlimited potential of ski runs. With the proper enthusiasm from local ski fans, skiing in this area will have at last come into it’s own. “

The slopes near the RuBo run will offer varied skiing potentialities for beginning, intermediate and advanced skiers, Olsen and Dastrup explained.
