Crazy Roads Out There as Motorists Deal with Massive Snowfall

The Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol is warning drivers to use extreme caution on area roads and highways this morning as snow and ice create treacherous driving conditions.

Numerous spinouts and collisions have been reported and motorists are being cautioned to avoid two highways specifically. Highway 44 west of Susanville and Highway 139 north of town are both especially dangerous this morning according to the CHP.

Additional snow accumulations of up to two inches with localized amounts up to 4 inches, especially above 5,000 feet are expected between now and 11:00 tonight in Lassen, eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra Counties.

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning commute.

Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since
it takes longer to stop on slick roadways. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
