Vacant Structure on Hall Street Burns for a Second Time

A vacant structure on Hall Street burned for a second time on Tuesday, damaging a just a single-room before firefighters extinguished the blaze.

At around 2:15p.m., according to details provided by Susanville Fire Department Engineer Kalvn McFarland,  the fire department along with automatic aid from Cal Fire responded to the structure fire and found a single room on fire in a previously burned, vacant structure.

“Engine 621 with assistance from Cal Fire Engine 2261 made an aggressive fire attack,” said McFarland. “The fire was contained to the room of origin and was knocked down at approximately 2:25p.m.”

There were two fire engines, five firefighters and three chief officers that responded to the incident. There were no fire service or civilian injuries.

According to McFarland the fire was human caused but unintentional.

The Susanville Fire Department was assisted by CalFire and the Susanville Police Department.
