COVID-19 Incident Command Addresses Infected Delivery Driver

As of 6:00p.m. Wednesday Lassen County still remains COVID-19 free according to the latest update from the Office of Emergency Services.

Out of 93 tests that have been administered 85 have returned as negative and 8 are still pending.

In it’s Wednesday evening update the Incident Command team addressed reports that a delivery driver for an out of state company had tested positive for the virus. Customers of the delivery service received emails from the company confirming that the driver had tested positive.

An investigation by the county health department confirmed that a driver who made deliveries to Lassen County later tested positive for COVID-19.

April 3rd, according to the OES statement, was the last time the driver delivered to Lassen County. The Incident Command team will continue to be in contact with the company in order to monitor the situation and provide information to the public as necessary.

The IC is also reminding the public to adhere to social distancing and handwashing when interacting with delivery service employees. Many residents receive deliveries with products from out of the area.

In light of these events, the public is asked to follow simple guidelines when accepting a delivery to limit exposure to COVID-19.

  • Don’t shake hands with the driver
  • Maintain a distance of at least six feet with the driver
  • Wash your hands for at least twenty seconds after handling any package
  • Clean surfaces where packages have touched
