CHP Incident: Ohio Motorcyclist Treating for Minor Injuries After Highway 32 Crash

A Grove City, Ohio man suffered minor injuries May 8th, after his motorcycle struck a deer on Highway 32 near the Tehama county line.

The motorcyclist, identified by the Susanville office of California Highway Patrol as 46-year old Jeffrey Cummings, was driving a 2016 Harley-Davidson in the #2 lane of the eastbound passing lane when  deer walked out in to the road.

The Harley-Davison collided with the deer at around 65 or 70MPH and then fell to the left side – exiting the #2 lane, crossing the #1 lane and then through the westbound lane before coming to rest on the west side of Highway 32.

Cummings was ejected from the motorcycle and was later flown by Enloe Care Flight to Enloe Hospital in Chico for treatment of his injuries.

According to the CHP report Cummings was wearing a motorcycle helmet and drugs and/or alcohol are not considered a factor in the collision.

The CHP also noted that the deer sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
